Have you ever heard of "The Meanest Man in America?"
Even if you have, you might find some surprising details about South Carolina's most prolific serial killer that you didn't know in this article.
Today we're talking about Donald "Peewee" Gaskins - the man who killed a fellow inmate and was released from prison 3 years later, the man who killed a pregnant "friend", allegedly ate a part of her leg, and killed her toddler, the man who was convicted of killing 8 souls but confessed to about 110 murders.
Donald Peewee Gaskins is a name that many shy away from...and for good reason. Even though he's long gone, executed via electric chair on September 6, 1991, at 1:10 AM, his name will always haunt South Carolina, especially in Prospect, SC. You see...that's where his personal cemetery was - right near his house.
Gaskins shot, drowned, beat, and poisoned his victims while leaving some on the side of the road, but for 8 people, their bodies were found at that cemetery. Not only did Gaskins have his own shallow-graved cemetery, but he also had a hearse that he transported his victims in
Eventually, police found the graves when searching for 13-year-old Kim Ghelkins, who went missing in 1975. Gaskins was arrested and convicted of 8 murders and received the death penalty. His sentence was later commuted to life, but he killed another inmate, and he was once again sentenced to death via electric chair.
How did he kill this inmate you might ask? With C4. Yep, somehow this was brought into the prison and used to murder Rudolph Tyner, who was a death row inmate.
Before his death, he wrote a book called, "Final Truth: The Autobiography of a Serial Killer." Amazingly this book goes from $29.00 to $218 on Amazon even though Gaskins was executed over 30 years ago.
