With over 300 public and private golf courses, the state of South Carolina has made its mark in the world of golf. Within the state is a city with over 90 golf courses, which is about a third of the entire state.
Located on the east coast with the smell of salt from the ocean and beautiful palm trees is the golf haven of Myrtle Beach. The gently rolling hills of the golf courses not only paint gorgeous pictures but include unique challenges and a variety of terrains. The layouts are juxtaposed with lakes, creeks, marshes, and other wetlands to pique any golfer's interest.
In Myrtle Beach, you'll see courses designed by some of the most well-known architects such as Tom Fazio, Lanny Wadkins, Mike Strantz, and Robert Trent Jones Sr. It's been described as a golfer's haven and of course, "the golf capital of the world."
If you're a golfer on a family trip, Myrtle Beach has everything from cozy restaurants to upscale hotels. There are arcades and miniature golf for the kids, and plenty of activities for teens. If camping is your thing, there are a variety of campgrounds to choose from and some have golf courses right on the campground.
