The Candy Man Murders

Houston, Texas was the home to a serial killer of twenty-eight young boys back between the years of 1970-1973.

What makes a man want to harm innocent children from their innocence?

The man's name was Dean Corll. He was born on Christmas Eve, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He had a brother named Stanley, His parents ended up divorcing and his mother moved him and his brother to Houston.

According to his classmates, he was very polite and well-behaved as a student. In 1964, he joined the military. After a year, he was discharged to go help his mother with the candy store that she was running.

While Corll was working at the candy store, he inherited the name the candy man because he would help give away free candy to the children.

How ironic.

After working at the candy store, he decided to take up being an electrician.

While he was working as an electrician, he was also hosting parties for young boys, while serving pop and snacks. Here he was grooming these young boys that were between the ages of 12 and 14. By the age of 15, he would choose who he was going to rape and murder. He would invite these boys to what he called adult parties.

He also had two accomplices that went by the names of David Brooks and Wayne Henley. Henley would get paid $200 a head to lure these boys to Corll's house. Once the boys were there, they would use the handcuff trick. One of his accomplices and he would put handcuffs on and pretend to lock themselves up and in fact, they kept the key in their pockets. So they would trick their victims to lock themselves in handcuffs. Then, he would not take the handcuffs off. He would take these young boys to the torture room, and tie them up to a board.

You see Corll had a torture room in his house and he did a lot of cruelty to these young boys there. A few examples of these were using a large sex device on these boys and also glass rods that he would use for invasive procedures. One of the sickest things that seems to really set him apart from most serial killers is the fact that he used to pull the victim's pubic hair out with either his fingers or pliers. A lot of his victims were mostly awake for this, but few would pass out.

When Corll would get mad at his victims, he would gnaw off their genitals. From what the Houston Police Department had said, he would do this in one bite. These are some of the most sadistic procedures that the Houston Police Department has ever seen.

The sad part was that the media never reported the sexual and heinous acts that Corll was participating in.

The boys were either murdered by strangulation or suffocation. A few of them were shot by Henley and they were left to bleed out.

The boys' bodies were left in a boat shed off the property, and then a few others were in another area. The sick part about this is that he would keep the boys alive until he buried them.

Henley had shot him six times and that left Corll dead.

Henley had confessed to cops what he had done and his involvement with this sick man.

What's really strange about this case is the fact that the police really didn't investigate the missing person reports of these boys.

How could they never have helped these boys' parents?

In the end, David Brooks was sentenced to life in prison and convicted of one murder of the boys. Wayne Henley was convicted of six murders, and given six-year terms of 99 years in jail for those murders.

This man will never harm another boy again, but the fact that this system allowed this to go on during those years makes you wonder why.
