Wisconsin woman, Taylor Schabusiness, was found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, third-degree sexual assault, and mutilating a corpse. Schabusiness pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. She is sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Taylor Schabusiness killed her then-boyfriend Shad Thyrion in February 2022. The young man was 24 at the time of his murder. According to prosecutors, he and Schabusiness smoked methamphetamine in Thyrion's mother's basement, and she proceeded to strangle, torture, dismember, and decapitate Thyrion. His body parts were found around the house and in a vehicle.
The Greenbay Press reported that Thyrion's mother found her son's head in a bucket on February 23rd, 2022, and immediately had her partner call 9-1-1. In a horrifying call, you can hear the anguish and dismay.
The police report said the officer went down to the basement, and he "lifted the towel and observed a human head inside the bucket. (He) ... looked around the room and observed what appeared to be dried blood on a nearby mattress."
In February, Schabusiness attacked her lawyer in court; however, her current attorney, Frolich, said this of her, "She's not a monster." He thinks that there is time for rehabilitation since she's only 25.
Brown County Circuit Judge Thomas Walsh had this to say:
"You seem to run out of superlatives. Where the victim’s remains are cut up? These actions are foreign to all that community and they shock the community beyond the ability to adequately express in words they really do....And that's the gravity of this offense. That is the gravity of this offense."
Judge Walsh explained the importance of keeping the community safe.
Her family testified on her behalf and brought up that she had a troubled childhood. Her Grandmother, Esther Coronado, said, "I know that she committed a crime and I know that they want her to pay for it, but I believe that she should have the opportunity to come back to society one time and be with her son."
Shad Thyrion's family also had a lot to say. His uncle, Kelly Thyrion, said, "I'm not a praying man, but after Judge Walsh sentences you here today, I will pray that you meet the same fate as your idealistic Jeffrey Dahmer."
Schabusiness's attorney plans to file an appeal.
